A sun-drenched ceremony at The Asylum, Peckham, then St John for eating + dancing! A very modern February wedding!
I met Lauren when I was exhibiting at A Most Curious Wedding Fair back in February 2018, and she got in touch that summer. She was expecting her first baby and wanted a hand to ensure things ran smoothly.
The couple had planned a very relaxed day, with a few key ingredients: great venues, great food, and lots of dancing! And they picked just the right suppliers to make that happen!
The Asylum Chapel in Peckham is highly sought after – and it’s easy to see why. It’s so beautiful and is oozing with charm, and such a rare find in London. (And would you just look at these ceremony photos!) Considering their wedding was in February, we totally lucked out with the weather too. The winter sun drenched the aisle right up to the alter at just the right time – while The Piano Singer played Lauren in for this modern Asylum wedding.
The Travelling Gin Co and the Canababes are preferred suppliers at The Asylum, and they provided the reception drinks and bites straight after the ceremony. They are a dream team to work with and have service down to a fine art!
St. John Restaurant afterwards provided a hearty February feast with flowing family style platters of oysters, bone marrow, and suckling pig. (St John offers complete private hire for weddings, with their bakery area repurposed as a dancefloor!)
Meanwhile both venues were draped in the most gorgeous array of mixed roses by Bloom of the Block – who just so happen to be my local florist in Walthamstow! I’m not a massive fan of roses, but these are just dreamy! The mix, tone, and the architecture of the flowers and the floral design is just heavenly – and so modern, it really worked well with the aesthetic of The Asylum.
Wedding Smashers were on hand to provide a PA system for the speeches, and got the party well and truly started after dinner.
Although it was a fairly large wedding in terms of guest count, Lauren + Phil’s day was intimate, cosy, and romantic at every part.
A thoroughly modern wedding at The Asylum, and finishing with lots of dancing at St John.

“Laura was absolutely amazing! From the build up, to on the day and even after she was incredible. The day was exactly how I’d hoped it would be and ran perfectly – I can’t thank you enough! X.”
