Charlotte & Finn were married at Brompton Oratory, a stunning neo-classical church in Knightsbridge, and then whisked their guests off by vintage routemaster to East London for a fun and relaxed fusion of food, and an amazing party, at Trinity Buoy Wharf in the docklands of East London. It was the perfect juxtaposition of west meets east, and a brilliant mixture of formal and fun for this contemporary and cool wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf.
Brompton Oratory is so ornate inside, you would be forgiven for thinking it is a cathedral. It is so opulent and beautiful, adorned with lots of glittering gold and warm amber jewel tones (echoed in the bridesmaid’s dresses); it’s actually hard to believe a place like this exists in London!
Meanwhile, I was on site at Trinity Buoy Wharf (the reception venue) from 11am, accepting deliveries; including the furniture hire, the band drop off, the alcohol, and the couples personal belongings by courier (table plan, place names, favours, guest book, etc).
Jimmy’s (the caterer) are preferred suppliers at Trinity Buoy Wharf and were on site at the same time to get set up for all the food and drink requirements – they also ran the bar, set up all the dining furniture, and handled take down (i.e. rubbish collection, breakdown of tables and chairs, and all collections again). They managed the table and chair set up seamlessly to ensure all was exactly as per the plan the couple and I had drafted in advance, meanwhile I ensured all the smaller details were in place and put the finishing touches on the décor and signage.
After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a scenic route through London by routemaster to Trinity Buoy Wharf, accompanied by some snacks for the road! On arrival I arranged a confetti exit for Charlotte & Finn straight off the bus (as they weren’t allowed any confetti at the church) and this worked a treat – they got some rather amazing confetti photos with some April winds stirring up a proper confetti shower over the couple!
Welcome drinks were served inside The Chainstore, and guests relaxed on the comfy chesterfield seating area while the couple were getting some photos. As the couple provided snacks for the bus journey, they opted against canapes on arrival and instead just got stuck in to a full on middle eastern feast soon after arrival – in honour of the groom’s heritage.
Starters was a mixture of Hummus, Baba Gahnoush, Butternut Squash Falafel, Feta & Mozzarella Sambusak, Lamb Sambusak, Tabbouleh, and Flatbreads.
Mains was a feast of Lamb Shoulder, Chicken and Veg Skewers, Fattoush Salad, Aubergine Slices, Whole Cauliflower, and more accompanying Flatbreads.
This was all followed by gelato, baklava, and teas and coffees to finish. And then a pizza delivery later for supper!
There was lots of little nods to the couple’s love of their family and friends, and love of travelling. Family photos decorated the arches at the venue, their table names were places they had been around the world, and their guest book was a map for their loved ones to write on.
There was no cake to cut, but the day relaxed nicely into the evening party, with the band kicking it off with Bruce Springsteen’s Dancing in the Dark for the first dance. Then the magic of the venue, the giant glitter ball, and the bar did the rest! A truly magical wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf!

“We cannot recommend Laura highly enough. We had a dry hire wedding in London with so many elements to come together and venue timing restrictions. We knew as soon as we met Laura and booked her on the day coordination service she would be worth her weight in gold! She was always calm, professional, positive and proactive, and I am certain the day would not have gone even half as well without her! You really feel that she cares deeply for each wedding she is involved in and has a wealth of experience and helpful tips for her couples. In short, she was an absolute hero and it was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Thank you SO much for your huge contribution to making our wedding day so smooth and enjoyable! xxx”
