Katie & Sam – A NYE Winter Wedding with a Boat Ride, Pies for Dinner, Sparklers + Fireworks at Trinity Buoy Wharf

A NYE winter wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf, East London. Starting with a ceremony in The Electrician’s Shop, a cocktail hour on a Thames Clipper boat ride, and ending with the most spectacular NYE party in The Chainstore! Featuring confetti, candles, pies for dinner, a London taxi photobooth, sparklers, and fireworks!

Continuing my real wedding catch up on the blog; This was my last wedding pre-covid, seeing out 2019 and ringing in 2020! Little did we know what was to come…! I’m so glad I got to give this couple the celebration they deserved, and a party their guests wouldn’t forget! For most, it would be their last big do for a few years, myself included. So it was my absolute pleasure to go out with a bang on this one!

A cool urban industrial day with classic details, and a party on the river! It was a very London centric wedding, with the bride arriving in a white London taxi, spectacular London views over the river Thames, a Thames Clipper boat ride, pie and mash for dinner, and a London taxi photobooth before the NYE fireworks at midnight!

It was a typical moody London day, and a bit misty down at the docklands as the groomsmen arrived early to take the delivery of the tables and chairs, deliver the alcohol, and set up the remaining bits and pieces for the day. I arrived on site around lunchtime to ensure all was in hand and ensure everything was ready and final deliveries arrived while the groomsmen headed off to get married. The ceremony went off without a hitch at The Electrician’s shop, then I walked guests round to The Chainstore for the drinks reception. As it was NYE, the sun was already going down post ceremony. It was super atmospheric and super romantic! The bride and groom got the chance to take a breath and get some photos, before we lined up a confetti shot coming out of The Chainstore, then the couple led everyone on to the Thames Clipper boat – which was a surprise to all their guests! They travelled up the Thames, with more drinks, to take in the sights and get more photos. On their return, it was time for dinner, followed by the speeches, and then we had a short breather while the photobooth set up. The first dance then kicked off the party, and the guests danced outside through the midnight fireworks and continued on the dancefloor until 1.30am.

It was the perfect winter wedding at Trinity Buoy Wharf.

“Wow wow wow! Where do we start with how fabulous Laura is….

We decided to make our Wedding Day extra special and book it for New Years Eve! It sounded like a dream initially but we didn’t realise how much effort and stress was involved in planning a wedding, in a dry hire venue… on NYE. Overwhelmed and in need of some serious help…

In comes the wonderfully talented Laura Devine and after having just a one hour planning meeting with her we felt like our wedding had all of sudden fallen into place. Laura followed up with an incredible wedding schedule, detailing every inch of our wedding (everything we had overlooked), she had contacted each of the suppliers to arrange their timings and agreed to set up the day for us. The meeting left us so excited for our big day and watching Laura bring all of our ideas together.

Roll on the big day… with a week to spare we realised we’d made a huge oversight on our part and hadn’t arranged for anyone to ‘take down’ at the end of the wedding (something most dry hire venues request). We needed to find someone in the industry, a week before our wedding, willing to stay until 5am- New Years Day! Panic struck we immediately turned to Laura and to our amazement she immediately cancelled her own NYE plans in order to take down our wedding! We were elated!!!!

On the day… we honestly couldn’t have done it without Laura. She was a one woman power force, setting up all suppliers, organising 150 overexcited guests, running around with what seemed like a Mary Poppins pocket with endless essentials that we’d not even thought about… (Wedding Cake knife!). Throughout the day we had so many of our guests tell us how wonderful she was and we couldn’t agree more…

Laura you are fantastic and THANK YOU so much for making our day run so smoothly, bringing all of our ideas together and most importantly given our guests a fantastic party!!! You truly are insanely good at what you do and we couldn’t recommend you highly enough.
